Going on a true vacation once a year is an annual goal I won’t ever give up. But with a family of 5, it takes planning…..

And for the past few years we have done Carnival Cruises; you can put your deposit down and pay it off by the due date, however your budget allows. So it’s been a no-brainer for us; put the deposit down, divy up the total over 8, 9, 10 or even 24 months of pays and voila. It’s paid off BEFORE vacation, it’s not a huge chunk of money all at once. It works for us and I hope we can continue to go this route even as the kids choose to do something else.

Sadly, I suspect this will be the last vacation with all 5 of us (for a while…unless they ask); between building their own lives and post-secondary school goals, it might be more than a challenge to get us all on the same page, even though it’s only one week of the year. That’s part of the reason I sprang for the snazzy t-shirts: “Next Time On The Langille’s EST 1998”

This year I splurged for an Over Water Cabana at Amber Cover DR. It was worth every penny and more; our own private cabana for the day in port, including all water sports, ziplining, a stocked fridge of soft drinks and local snacks like plantain or cassava chips .

It was a truly memorable family vacation, made even more so because my sister & niece joined us. And I can’t wait to go again. Hope you enjoy my pics. E
