It’s New Kids On The Block Day!
We need to celebrate accordingly. It’s New Kids On The Block Day!! Why are we even working? (smile)
It’s only the biggest day of the year for Blockheads. A day set aside to celebrate Donnie Wahlberg, Jonathan Knight, Jordan Knight, Joey McIntyre, and Danny Wood.
It’s an annual celebration that is held on April 24th, in honour of the legendary ’80’s boy band. It started in April 24th, 1989, when then-Massachusetts governor Michael Dukakis officially proclaimed it to recognize the group’s cultural impact. At the time, the band was pretty much dominating the charts with their album “Hangin’ Tough” and leading the way for boy band popularity so it was only fitting they be celebrated for the impact they were making.
Since then, fans and members of the band have continued to celebrate every year as a tribute to the group’s legacy and influence on pop music.
So let’s go Blockheads — I’ll be playing some of these songs this afternoon, but for now — you can watch here.
