It was this day in 1987 “(I’ve Had) The Time of My Life” goes to #1 on the charts.

It’s hard to forget this song if you’ve ever seen the movie.  It’s the song that plays at the end of Dirty Dancing when Jennifer Grey (Francis “Baby” Houseman) leaps in the arms of Patrick Swayze (Johnny Castle).  That dance.  That move.  The stuff dreams are made of.

“Nobody puts Baby in a corner”.  Who will forget that line?  That moment.

Franke Previte co-wrote the song specifically for the film, tailoring it to the 7-minute scene with a vocal open, slow build, and big finish.

A great song from a great movie.
