Help! How To Get Rid Of Fruit Flies?
Sarah asked the question earlier today – “How do you get rid of fruit flies?” with lots of great answers on the Fox Facebook page.
I asked the internet – specifically Chat GPT and this is what I found –
Step 1: Remove & Clean (30–45 seconds)
Toss overripe fruit or veggies, empty the trash, and wipe down counters.
Check drains for gunk—pour boiling water down to clear it.
Step 2: Set Traps (30–45 seconds)
Fill a small jar with apple cider vinegar + 1 drop of dish soap.
Cover loosely with plastic wrap with tiny holes or leave open.
Place near fruit bowls or trash—flies go in, can’t escape.
Step 3: Spray & Repel (30–45 seconds)
Mix 1 cup water, 1/4 cup apple cider vinegar, 5 drops peppermint or lemongrass oil, optional dish soap in a spray bottle.
Lightly spray around counters, sinks, and trash areas—not directly on fruit.
Step 4: Maintain
Store fruit in the fridge, empty trash often, and repeat traps & spray daily until flies are gone.
