Back To School Trauma – I Mean, Memories

Today we are in our front parking lot hosting our second annual Stuff the Studio event in support of The Inn of the Good Shepherd.

We are asking for donations of back-to-school supplies for families in our community that could use the extra help.  Because back-to-school is EXPENSIVE!

This is where this community really shines.  Whenever there is a need, a big ask, a plea – Sarnia-Lambton steps up to the plate and says “what can we do to help?” and always delivers.

Last year the Inn of the Good Shepherd handed out 1000 backpacks full of school supplies to kids in our community.  The need is even greater this year, and costs are up.

So we need YOU Sarnia-Lambton to help us, help those families go back to school with everything they need.

Because back to school is stressful enough without worrying about having the essentials.  Where to sit?  Will your friends be in your class?  Who will your teacher be?  Who will I eat lunch with? What am I going to wear?  What am I going to eat for lunch?

So let’s help.  Because I remember back to school.

I remember being so excited about school supplies.  I remember when the teacher handed out new books and new pencils.  I remember using those pencil crayons for the first time.  I still get excited about school supplies and I honestly buy pencils and notebooks every September because there is just something about the newness of those supplies.

Back to school time reminds me of all the bad haircuts I had.  One self-inflicted.  There was the “one with the perm”.  (smile)  I remember trying desperately to wash it out.

I remember back to school outfits.  I remember the nerves that came with that first day.

We may not be able to help with bad hair or picking the perfect outfit or with homework or finding your best friend – but we can help with the supplies you need to start the year off right and take one worry off your plate.

I am excited to see you today at our Stuff the Studio event.  We are filling the big truck out front (thanks to Blue Coast Realty) and are looking forward to the bbq as we celebrate back to school and help kids and families with the extra expense.

Hope to see you there!
