The View From Here – I Need Your Help With Something
Happy Monday! The sun is shining. The colours are absolutely beautiful right now. I love this time of year – I honestly do.
The cooler temperatures. The colour. The food! (tee hee) It’s comfort food season and I love that. Give me all the food. (smile)
But I am not loving right now? This sickness that has taken over my body. I know I’m not alone because I’ve had conversations with other people fighting something right now. Gotta love the fall season. (smile)
I’m not afraid to say that I am not a good sick person. I hate it. I want sympathy (smile) I will let you know that I am not well. Ha ha ha. I can really play it up for drama purposes.
I’ve got a cough that won’t stop right now. I’ve tried different brands of medication hoping to find something that works, so any suggestions for home remedies will be greatly appreciated. I remember my grandmother putting onions on my chest as a kid. That’s going back a few years. I don’t want to do that. (smile) Has anybody ever done that? Does that actually work?
What do you do to feel better when you are down and out? When I was younger I used to fight through it. I would soldier on. Power through. Now? I am not afraid to take a time out. Admit weakess and take myself out of the game so I can feel better.
As a kid I remember staying home and watching The Price Is Right and daytime talk shows, sitting on the coach, with Gingerale (stirred to get rid of the bubbles) and chicken noodle soup with crackers. Vick’s vapor rub in hand because somehow it helped you breathe a little better.
I miss being a kid and being taken care of. It seems as an adult, you still have to do all the things no matter what.
The past few days I watched the entire four seasons of Emily in Paris (really good by the way) and I started to watch Monster – The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story on Netflix. Have you watched? I’m not sure I will continue with Monsters. It’s odd to watch as entertainment what was such a horrible news event.
Looking for new recommendations. Send any my way.
Hopefully – I can push through and beat this stupid cold before this weekend.

A reminder to all of us with frozen turkeys in the freezer to take them out so they have time to unthaw. One of my biggest mistakes in my early cooking experiences – was not taking out the bird on time. It’s up there with leaving the “stuff” in the bird. (smile)
Looking forward to the turkey and the stuffing, the sweet potatoes with a few marshmallows on top, the pumpkin pie – but mostly looking forward to what the day is all about. Thankfulness.
A lot of “stuff” happening in the world around us. Being thankful for what we have is the difference maker sometimes and I know I am thankful for so much.
Thank YOU for listening and sharing your day with me and with us. We appreciate you.
And thank you for sharing your home remedies with me! Fox listeners are the best.
A few suggestions I got —
*Oil of oregeno (tastes awful but it works)
Lana shared her recipe for Elderberry Syrup.
Hot steam shower.
Cup of tea with lemon.
Halls.
Vicks on the bottom of your feet covered with a pair of socks.
