New Tragically Hip Documentary Coming To Prime
“Good bands make an impact.”
They sure do and The Tragically Hip are one of those bands that I think every Canadian feels some sort of connection to.
Whatever style of music you like, I’m sure you know a few songs from the Hip. I’m sure you have a few favourites. I’m sure there are a few you know every word of the song. I’m sure there are a few that transport you back in time to where you were when you first heard it.
My husband first introduced me to the Hip when we first met and I’ve loved them ever since. We saw them in Toronto on New Years Eve 1999. It was incredible.
We saw them in a very crowded Centennial Park for Bayfest and it was incredible.
Gord Downie was mezmorizing, captivating and really knew how to write and perform a song.
So many great songs. Little tidbits of Canadian people and history. He was a poet. A storyteller. So gifted.
Maybe we even took them for granted a little bit. Who would have thought we would ever have a day when we didn’t have the Hip or when we wouldn’t have Gord Downie?
When news broke of Gord’s cancer diagnosis it shocked everyone, and who knew that would inspire a tour that would bring an entire country together in such a powerful way.
I don’t think I will ever forget the feeling of how the country came together. It was emotional. Gut wrenching. Heart breaking. Beautiful. Powerful.
This new documentary will share the story of the band. Their early history. The power of their music on the fans. Gord’s diagnosis. His final tour.
Get the tissues ready because this is going to be an emotional one.
A beautiful tribute to an incredible Canadian band and I’m pretty sure Canada will watch it together.
Thank you Gord. You are missed.
