The Outsiders – The Musical
You guys. I had no idea this was even a thing. But The Outsiders – the book, the movie that so many of us loved in the 80’s and beyond is now a musical on Broadway and I want to go see it.
I remember having to read the book in school and there was just something about it that drew you in. When the book turned into a movie that was even better. With an all star cast – Matt Dillon, Ralph Macchio, Rob Lowe, Patrick Swayze, Tom Cruise.
Gangs. Conflict. Trying to find your place. Trying to survive in a broken world that feels destined to always be against you.
The Greasers. Those guys from the poor side of town nobody wants to be from. The Socs. Short for “Socials”. The West side “rich” kids.
A fight breaks out. Someone dies. Ponyboy and his best friend Johnny go into hiding so they don’t get caught. Arrested or taken away from their make shift family.
I found the movie once in a bargain bin and introduced my oldest daughter to it and she fell in love with it.
Now it’s on Broadway. In musical form.
