NEW MUSIC MONDAY – KNOX – NOT THE 1975
I am really liking the new song from Knox. Not The 1975. And we want to know what YOU think of the song.
Knox grew up in Ohio with a love of basketball. He listened to Fall Out Boy Panic! At the Disco, All-American Rejects and Ed Sheeran.
It was in the summer before he started at Ohio University that he picked up the guitar for the first time. He taught himself to play watching YouTube videos and started playing open mic nights.
By his second year of school, his love of music had taken over so he dropped out of school, moved in with his grandmother and saved up enough cash to move to Nashville in January 2019.
Being stuck in a pandemic, he used the time alone to work on his music. His songs caught the attention of John Harvie, who placed a few on his album and Knox signed a publishing deal in 2022. But he wanted to record some of his songs himself. The result was How To Lose a Girl in 7 Songs, his debut EP, that just came out in February.
Now that he had his own songs, he looked to build a fanbase and started sharing songs on TikTok. His song “Sneakers” saw nearly 2 million views overnight. It now has over 24 million streams.
