Little House On The Prairie Cast Comes Together For 50 Year Anniversary
All I need to do is hear the first few notes of the theme song and I am transported back in time to the days I was glued to the television to watch Little House on the Prairie. I admit I smile, and maybe even tear up a little thinking about the show and just how much it meant to me as a kid. Gosh I loved it. I loved Laura Ingalls. I love the comfort the show brought.
Now, being older, I still love to watch the show when I catch it in reruns. It’s different though. The perspective has changed. Now, instead of relating only to Laura, I relate to “Ma Ingalls”. I relate to her as a female and as a mother. I see a different side of her character and love it even more.
I love what this show brings to the world. Community. Family. Honesty. Doing good for others. The value of hard work. Discipline. Overcoming hardship.
So much good in this little show that lasted for nine seasons.
This September it’s celebrating it’s 50th year anniversary. I can’t even believe that. A few of the remaining cast members, including Melissa Gilbert and Alison Arngrim and Ma Ingalls herself Karen Grassle got together recently to discuss the show. They got back together at Big Sky Ranch in Simi Valley, California, where the show was filmed from 1974 – 1982. All in celebration for a recent fan event known as Prairie Palooza.
I had no idea such an event existed and I’d be lying if I said I didn’t want to go there. I just found a new bucket list item.
Are you a fan of the show?
