Golden Globes Recap – Did You Watch?
The 81st Golden Globe Awards were held last night in Beverly Hills, airing live on CBS and Paramount +.
Jo Koy was booed during his opening monologue. He tried to lighten the mood by saying “Yo, I got the gig ten days ago! You want a perfect monologue? Shut up! You’re kidding me, right?”
He tried to make a joke about the NFL and Taylor Swift which didn’t go over so well. Her response went viral on social media. “We came on after a football doubleheader. The big difference between the Golden Globes and the NFL … On the Golden Globes we have fewer camera shots of Taylor Swift.” Camera cuts to Taylor
Oppenheimer was the big winner of the night taking home five Golden Globes in total, including Best Motion Picture – Drama and Best Male Actor in a Motion Picture Drama for Cillian Murphy.
Lily Gladstone made history as the first Indigenous person to win the Golden Globe for Best Female Actor in a Motion Picture – Drama for her role in Killers of the Flower Moon.
Barbie led the nominations going into the night with nine nominations but taking home two awards. Cinematic and Box Office Achievement and Best Original Song.
For television, Succession led the way with four trophies, including Best Television Series – Drama.
