Last week, Ariana shared this post on Instagram, with details about a new song “Yes, And?” to be released at midnight on Friday, her first solo music since 2020’s Positions. 
She has been teasing her seventh album through the past year and has been sharing pictures from different recording studios showing the work happening behind the scenes.
Just before the new year, Ariana posted a statement looking back on 2023, writing
“One of the most transformative, most challenging, and yet happiest and most special years of my life.”
“There were so many beautiful and yet polarized feelings. I’ve never felt more at the mercy of and in acceptance of what life was screaming to teach me. I feel more human than ever. I feel more deeply than ever. I feel softer and stronger, all at once,”
“I have never felt more pride or joy or love while simultaneously feeling so deeply misunderstood by people who don’t know me, who piece whispers together and make what they want out of me and their assumptions of my life. I have learned how much more important one of those things is than the other.”
Her return to music comes after taking a long break to focus on her R.E.M. Beauty makeup business and her role in the upcoming live action adaptations of the Broadway musical Wicked, in which she’ll play Glinda.
