New Music Monday – Noah Kahan/ Post Malone – Dial Drunk
We want to know what you think of this new song from Noah Kahan and Post Malone.
Noah is from Strafford, Vermont. Started writing songs at the age of 8 where he would upload them to SoundCloud and YouTube where he started gaining some attention.
His inspirations? Paul Simon. Cat Stevens, Counting Crows, Hozier and Mumford & Sons.
He’s been very open about his struggles with anxiety and depression and has shared honestly about how much he has struggled and how it’s affected his life and how writing has been like therapy for him.
“I’ve been struggling with anxiety and depression for as long as I can remember. I didn’t know what it was until I got into high school. Then, when I started releasing music and seeing it connect with others, I realized it wasn’t something I had to be ashamed of and that people were actually connecting to my music. So it’s a real thing and it’s a really hard thing I have to deal with all the time and it sucks, and it’s shitty. Sometimes it feels like everyone around me is doing well and I feel like I’m kind of missing something. But what’s great is music gives me an outlet to express it and it helps other people. So [anxiety] has its ups and downs.”
