New Music Monday – Shawn Mendes
Shawn Mendes surprised everyone by releasing this new single early Friday morning – not without a little controversy. Featuring a cover photo of the New York City skyline – in a cloud of orange smoke caused by the wildfires across different parts of Canada. It would seem the song was written quickly, in response to the ongoing wildfires. But if you listen to it, it seems to be much more than that.
He shared on Twitter early Friday morning that he started writing the song this week with friends in upstate New York. He finished the new song just hours before its release. “Felt so important to me to share with you guys in real time,”
He also asked his fans to donate to the Canadian Red Cross, which is supporting the wildfire relief efforts across the country.
Some people applauding the new music. Others criticizing Shawn for using the wildfires to promote new music.
It might fit the situation but if you listen to the music, I think you’ll pick up on the recent breakup. Shawn and Camila who were back “on” again after reconnecting at a music festival, have called it quits again.
