Loving this new track by Scott Helman.

A song about heartbreak.  Breaking up.  Looking back on the past.  Overcoming hard stuff.  A song reflecting on life.  And I think it’s good by itself.  The video however hits a little harder.

You never know what someone is going through or has been through.  This song Scott shares honestly and very vulnerably about the struggles he has been through, and how he overcame.

Describing the track,  Scott says “’every time (drive by)’ is simple. it’s a goodbye. it’s also memory of a really painful time in my life. that pain has since been resolved, and it’s so sweet to be able to look back on with fondness. you can see what i mean if you watch the video.”

The video was filmed in his hometown of Toronto, and highlights important locations in his relationship with his now fiancé.  The places where they met, broke up, where he got into drugs, nearly died, and where they got back together, engaged and where they are now.

About Scott —

Hi, I’m scott and this is a bit about me. When I figured out how to write a song one night in 2009, hours turned into days and weeks and years. I’ve picked up a lot of things, but it was the only thing I couldn’t put down. My ADHD has led me down many strange roads of hyper-fixation, and the little dopamine receptor in my brain drives me around the world pushing my face into the most obscure projects. Now I’m living in LA making new music. This body of music I have is really about the story of my life in one way or another. Most of it is about my relationship with my fiancée – We met when I was 15 and dated until the end of high school. We had a horrible, messy breakup and went our separate ways. Fast forward 3-4 years later, I was with my band in a sprinter van racing toward Montreal, where she lived, to play a show. I had heard she broke up with her boyfriend and knew right then that I still loved her. I invited her. She showed. We got back together and now we’re engaged. Sounds like a rom-com, I know. Within the scope of my latest tunes, not everyone is going to care about the whole trajectory of a 12-year love story, and that’s ok. When we expose who we are for the selfish sake of being seen, we simultaneously illuminate others who feel like we do. I just hope to connect in whatever way I can, so that I may feel more connected in return.

Powerful song by Scott Helman and we want to know what you think of the song, and the video.  TEXT US – use the A1 Security Textline to share your thoughts on this song – 519-464-1999.
