The View From Here – Signs Of A Great Vacation
Back to work is a challenge after a full weeks vacation but it does feel good. Back to work refreshed, re-energized and five pounds heavier. Signs of a great vacation, right?
What makes up a great vacation to you?
Sleeping in? Time away from home? Sunshine? Beaches? Good food. Good company.
I cleaned like a maniac on Monday and loved every minute of it. My kids were actually concerned, checking on me every few hours “Are you okay? ” Yup. Let me and my duster be. I’m on a mission. I cleaned and organized. My home office has been deconstructed so now it’s just my scrapbook room. And record listening room. Reorganized.
Sadly by Tuesday, the results are less noticeable but I know it happened, so I think that’s what counts.
There was shopping. Great deals on gardening stuff right now. Added a few more plants to my collection. We visited with family and celebrated birthdays. When you haven’t seen someone in three years, change is noticeable. Especially when it comes to kids.
I hit the Farmers Market on Saturday – corn is in season! So are sweet peas and cantaloupe. Very exciting. You think I’m kidding, but I’m not. My favourite time of year. All the fresh fruits and veggies.
I discovered a new favourite flavour of potato chip – dill pickle meets white cheddar. Umm, no words. Just FANTASTIC flavour. And yes I ate the whole bag. I ate ice cream cones and binge watched The Lincoln Lawyer – GREAT series. I borrowed a new book from the library – “Where the Crawdads Sing” at Sarah’s recommendation. “Read the book before you go see the movie.” So I’m doing that.
Our family ventured to Grand Bend yesterday and hit the Pinery Flea Market. First time in three years and it felt good to be back. It was super busy and there were lots of treasures just waiting to be found.
I was more than excited to find an Elvis Presley record and have been playing it. A lot. All the big songs that were featured in the new Elvis movie. Got to chat with someone who is a local musician who made a point of going to Graceland and says the experience is like no other.
No beach. No big getaway. But it was so nice.
So tell me, what makes a great vacation to YOU?
