Meet Preston Pablo

Preston Pablo is calling in from his basement apartment in Toronto – staying cool in the air conditioning, trying to beat the heat like all of us right now.

He admits he loves the summer and loves the heat much more than being cold.   He’s been busy doing back to back interviews with the media because everyone wants to know a little bit more about him since his his latest single just hit over a million streams and people are “Shazam’ing” it all over the place.  (It’s currently the number three most “Shazam’d” song in the country).

Preston’s career is taking off in a very big way because of this song he wrote as a way to deal with all the emotions the last year has brought.  Flowers Need Rain.  A beautifully written song.  Lyrics that go to show we all go through difficult times, and just like we need the good stuff, the bad stuff helps us throw.  Even flowers need rain to grow.

We talked to Preston about the powerful meaning of the song for him.  Confirmation that music is his life and what he needs to do.

In a press release he says ” Last year, when my focus shifted towards making music my career, I found myself struggling creatively and mentally.  A lot of things in my life changed.  The volume at which I was creating was intense and rapid. Everything felt like a new experience to me, and I was just trying to put the puzzle pieces together in my mind. I was immersed into a different world of music and I was learning everything on the fly. I felt extremely overwhelmed and confused because I was living a life that I had always dreamt of, but a big part of me felt lost. There were so many emotions and unanswered questions in my head during this process, and this song was my way of expressing them. For me, this song was and always will be the answer to all of my uncertainties. It’s simple, I need music in my life to live and grow the same way flowers need the rain.”

We love this song, and are excited to be part of the journey for Preston.

Listen is as we chat with Preston about the meaning of the song for him, working with Banx and Ranx, getting through the pandemic, and best show to binge on Netflix.
