The View From Here – Checking In
Just checking in to see how you were doing. Hanging in there? Excited about restrictions easing? Fearful? Hesitant? Yep. Me too. All of it.
Our family is on the mend after dealing with covid these last few weeks. I have a cough that lingers, a general heaviness in the chest, and occasional dizziness. But we’re getting over it. Thank the Lord. Thankful I never lost my taste. I love food way too much for that. We used the air fryer setting in our oven to make chicken wings this weekend for the big football game, and I felt like a kid at Christmas. Playing with my new toys. Excited with the results.
Buckle up. Fasten your seatbelts. Hold onto your horses. Insert whatever phrase/saying you prefer – we’re in for some messy weather the next 48 hours. Rain moves in tonight, followed by ice pellets mixed with snow and then snow. Lots of it. So tired of winter weather. And heavy jackets. And the endless stream of salt that comes in through the house from our boots and furry friends.
I took our puppy for a walk this morning. The winds had everything flying all over the place and she wanted to chase everything at the same time. She was pulling me a mile a minute in every direction trying to chase down every leaf that moved. She maneuvered herself in and around my legs, tripping me over and over again. The leash getting tangled around us both. Funny for someone watching. Not so funny for me. (smile). She is a busy little girl. Trying to figure out what new “trick” to teach her next. How to stop chewing shoes and headphones is top of the list. And if anyone needs some pruning done, I can send her over. She’s become an expert at removing dead branches from plants. Live ones too, but I guess you want the plant to look somewhat balanced. (smile)
As I sit at my desk in my home office, I have the window open just a crack and am enjoying the mild temperatures and feeling a bit of a breeze of fresh air come into my workspace. It’s enough to lift the spirits just a bit, knowing that in the next 24-48 hours, we’re going to get hit with some nasty winter weather. Once again.
It’s okay. Spring is coming. It’s getting closer every day. Warmer weather. Time outside. New growth and renewal. In so many ways.
Excited.
Hopeful.
Carrie.
