New Music Monday – Meet Coobie!
Sarnia has a lot of very talented people. I got the chance last week to talk to one of them. He goes by the name “Coobie” and I think you need to pay attention to this guy because he has TALENT!
It was such a pleasure to be able to have him join me on the phone for a conversation about the new music, the long journey, finding his voice, what the music means and how much he values the support from his home town.
He started playing music at the age of ten. He started with drums, moved onto guitar and then started singing. He’s making connections and making music with the help of people in New Jersey and L.A. His latest video was shot in L.A. Pretty cool.
TikTok is a big help in launching many music careers right now, and Coobie is one of them. He’s getting a whole lot of attention on the platform right now. He says Shawn Mendes and Justin Bieber are two of his biggest influences at the moment. He’s at a point in the journey where he’s finding his voice, and has realized what kind of music he really wants to make and to really connect with the people, it’s best to just be yourself and not who you think the world wants you to be.
Trust Issues is his latest release that got our attention. “Instead of worrying about the past, using it as motivation to go forward” To me it sounds like Post Malone meets the Kid Laroi.
“I want to show this is possible and help them as much as I can through my music.”
Everybody has to start somewhere. Coobie has been working on his music for a long time and is finally starting to get some recognition.
