It’s not the first time these two powerhouses have teamed up, and actually, the video for this latest single continues the storyline from Taylor’s 2013 “Everything Has Changed” video. Nearly 10 years later, the original actors from that previous video, shows the two growing up and going off to college and starting a new life.
Ed Sheeran and Taylor Swift have been friends for well over a decade, and it’s no surprise that when Ed was working on this song, he set it aside in hopes Taylor would lend her vocals to the track. It’s a beautiful song. I love the piano, and the strings. It should be noted that Ed’s brother helped in that.
And Taylor can’t do anything without leaving a few “Easter Eggs” for her fans. Her fans actually figured out she was going to be on this single before it was even released to the world. Nothing can be kept secret when her fans are involved.
Some things to watch for in the video – the number 13. When the character “Ava” is shown writing in her notebook, she’s writes the number 13 everywhere. A nod to Taylor’s favourite number (and birthday). The text message between the two characters in the video is a reference to a real text exchange between the two that was shared to Taylor’s Instagram in 2015.
This new version of “The Joker and the Queen” with the addition of Taylor’s vocals is the fourth time they have teamed up. It follows “Everything Has Changed” from 2012, “End Game” from 2017, and “Run (Taylor’s Version” in 2021.

Not only is she the best singer/songwriter in the world but she’s also a very close friend, I’m very lucky to have her in my life.
