The View From Here – Oh Hello October

Anybody else really love this time of year?

Maybe it’s because it’s my birthday month.  Maybe it’s the thought of Thanksgiving and camping and a deep fried turkey with all the fixin’s.   Maybe it’s because “spooky season” is finally here.  Halloween haunts and spooky decorations.  And candy.  Everywhere candy.  In bulk.  Those molasses kisses that I love so much.

Maybe it’s the new album coming from my favourite band of all time that arrives in a few weeks, that I actually PRE-ordered back in March, that I have been counting down the days to get.

Maybe it’s pumpkin spice everything.

Maybe it’s the cooler temperatures.  Crisp air.   Apples.  Windows open.   Hoodies AND sandals.  Because it’s really hard to get out of the summer wardrobe sometimes.  I’m ready for hoodies and sweats but I’m not ready to give up on shoes you can just slide on with ease. (smile).  I’m not mentally ready for socks or panty hose or nylons.  And closed toed shoes.  Nope.  Not yet.

I have passed a car a few times now with a license plate that I love – something that basically reads as “I hate socks”.   I wanted to roll down the window and wave my hand up in agreement when I saw it.  YES.  I hate socks too.

Unless it’s the middle of winter and you’re not going anywhere, there’s nothing better than those big comfy socks.   But I’m not ready for winter anymore than I’m ready for socks.

If we could keep one season, I think for me it would be fall. The colour, the cool temperatures are good enough for me. The comfort foods.  Apple crisp and apple pie with fresh picked apples.

So many things to love about this time of year.  And question?

October brings new releases on Netflix.  One of which even I am questioning.   “Diana the Musical”.   Yep.  That Diana.  Princess Diana.  The Peoples Princess. Queen of Hearts.  Her story told as a musical.   I loved Diana.  I have watched the interviews, read the books.  I watched the wedding.  I cried when she died.  But I’m just not sure this is how to remember her or honour her.  I loved the Crown.  And I’m really interested to see Spencer when it hits theatres in November.   I’m just not sure about this.

Will you watch?  What do you think?
