The View From Here – What’s Your Sign?

Oh my gosh, I used to love reading my daily horoscope.  I loved learning about my “sign” and what it meant.  Everyone around me, I tried to see if we were a good match or not.

Eventually I started writing “horror-scopes” in high school for the school paper.  Totally making up people’s fortunes for fun.   Careful if you crossed my path in a bad way.  Your horror-scope wasn’t going to be a good one.  (smile)

I’m a Libra.  For the most part I think it’s pretty darn accurate.  All about balance.  Hates confrontation.  Can’t make a decision.  Likely to have a career in the arts.  Pretty much.

I love all these little things that tell me a little bit more about what kind of a person I am.  Even those silly quizzes you find online.

It’s interesting to look at how when you were born affects your personality.

According to the Chinese Zodiac I’m a Pig.   Energetic and enthusiastic.   Love entertainment. A bit materialistic. And always late.

The Pig is the twelfth of all zodiac animals. According to one myth, the Jade Emperor said the order would be decided by the order in which they arrived to his party. Pig was late because he overslept. Another story says that a wolf destroyed his house. He had to rebuild his home before he could set off. When he arrived, he was the last one and could only take twelfth place.

I can’t deny that is true.  I am always late.

Today we are celebrating Chinese New Year, or Lunar New Year or Spring Festival.  The Year of the Ox.

The Chinese zodiac, or Sheng Xiao (生肖), is a repeating 12-year cycle of animal signs and their given attributes, based on the lunar calendar.

In order, the zodiac animals are: Rat, Ox, Tiger, Rabbit, Dragon, Snake, Horse, Goat, Monkey, Rooster, Dog, Pig.

The Lunar New Year, or Spring Festival, marks the transition from one animal to the next—2020 is the year of the Rat, which began on January 15th, 2020, and ends on February 11th, 2021. February 12th, 2021 (Chinese New Year) will signal the start of the year of the Ox.

And if you want to celebrate –
