Feel Good Friday – Learn Something New
Every week we team up with the Canadian Mental Health Association Lambton-Kent for Feel Good Friday!
Because it’s never been more important to take care of our mental health. We’ve talked about exercise, getting outside in nature, getting creative, giving, journalling, creating a to-do list —
This week for Feel Good Friday we are focusing on learning a new skill!
Learning new skills can improve your mental well-being in multiple ways. It can help boost self-confidence and raise self-esteem, help build a sense of purpose, and helps you connect with others. Not sure what new skill to learn? Here are some ideas of things you can try:
- Learning to cook something new – try a new recipe to cook or bake
- Take on a new responsibility at work
- Work on a DIY project
- Consider signing up for a new course at a local college or online
- Try new hobbies that challenge you

What new skill would you like to learn? I’ve seriously been thinking about knitting. It’s something my mom did and loved. My gramma too. My grandmother taught me how to cast stitches. I still remember her voice “knit one, purl two.”
No idea if it’s even realistic for me to take on something else. I feel like other things I thought I could do during this pandemic, I have failed to do. (smile)
