Corey Hart Releases New Version Of “Never Surrender” And It’s AMAZING
What girl that grew up with 80’s music DIDN’T have a crush on Corey Hart? He brought us some incredible music.
One of the biggest songs of his career was Never Surrender.
That song, those lyrics, have never been so meaningful. So fitting for what our world is going through. “A little uncertainty can bring you down. … And when the night is cold and dark, you can see light. No one take away your right to fight… and never surrender”
Corey Hart is back. With an updated version of that 1985 hit that won him Single of the Year at the Junos and spent four weeks at the top of the charts in Canada. Inspired by the Covid-19 pandemic. He says since the pandemic began, he has received so many heartfelt messages from people all over the world telling him just how much the song continues to inspire them. That inspired him to create a new version of the song. It’s beautiful. And it made me cry.
The power of a song. A piano. A voice. A lyric that speaks to the heart.
Corey explains in a press release –
“Aspirational dreams of youth coupled with naïve, unaffected simplicity led me to write a song called ‘Never Surrender’ some 35 years ago. Today as I gaze out onto the uncertain sea of change, I’m reminded of the kind, resilient people in our world who keep moving forward with steely determination and steady stride — that yes indeed, ‘just a little more time is all we’re asking for.’
“Never Surrender (Angels) 2020,” featuring Rob Wells on piano, was recorded in Bahamas, where Hart lives. It comes with a video directed by his wife, singer Julie Masse.
