Happy International Women’s Day!
International Women’s Day is THIS Sunday March, 8. The theme this year is #EachforEqual – “An equal world is an enabled world.”
This day is to celebrate women and all their achievements. To lift each other up.
Ladies – you are simply amazing and I celebrate you!
Sunday is International Women’s Day – a day to celebrate women and all their achievements.
To lift each other up. I don’t think you need to walk on the moon, or invent something to be celebrated. I think in each of us, there is something incredible. Something amazing. Something the world needs. We all offer a gift to the world. Sometimes we just need to take a little time to figure out what that is. I have never NOT felt equal. I’ve never felt I couldn’t do something. Except maybe share a room with a spider, or pump my own gas. But that was years ago. I never doubted my abilities. I never limited myself.
I work in an industry that some may say is still male dominated. It never crossed my mind that I couldn’t do it because I was a woman. It was the fainting in school and fear of public speaking that first held me back. (smile)
I’ve been so lucky in my life to have been loved and surrounded by incredibly strong women. My mom was a force. She taught me the value of family, honesty and love. How to cook, how to laugh at myself and not take life so seriously. She taught me life wasn’t always about winning. It was showing up, having fun, and doing your best.
I’ve had the chance to meet some incredible ladies along the way who have each made my life so much richer.
Guard your circle ladies, because who you surround yourself with matters.
I’ve been influenced by others as well. Even if I’ve never met them. Oprah Winfrey has given me so much wisdom over the years. Ellen DeGeneres inspires kindness, compassion. Michelle Obama leads with passion and wisdom and integrity.
Be careful who you spend time with and also, guard your space online. Who you follow on social media will influence you as well.
Happy International Women’s Day – I hope you take time to honour and celebrate the women in your life who have made an impact on your life.
