Mariah Carey Is Christmas
25 years after we were first introduced to Mariah Carey’s now famous Christmas tune “All I Want For Christmas Is You” Amazon has announced the song will be getting it’s own mini documentary, “Mariah Carey is Christmas!”, and released a trailer.
It will tell the story of how the song came to be. A song that was released on October 29, 1994 it was the lead single from her fourth studio album and first holiday album, Merry Christmas (1994). It is the best-selling modern day Christmas song. With global sales of over 16 million copies, the song remains her biggest international success and is the 12th best-selling single of all time, and the best selling Christmas single by a female artist overall. As of 2017, the song was reported to have earned $60 million in royalties.
Yep, people really like the song. A special “Merry Christmas 25th Anniversary Deluxe Edition,” was released last month, which includes the original album, plus a disc featuring previously unreleased live tracks from her 1994 St. John The Divine Benefit Concert, rare remixes, a new rendition of the “Sugar Plum Fairy” and additional seasonal tracks. And she just released a video with previously unseen video footage.
The documentary will premiere on Amazon later this month.
