A-Ha Is Running A Contest -Your Chance To See Them Perform In Norway!
There is a fun little contest underway and you probably don’t even know it.
Anybody who grew up in the 80’s, and the days of Much Music and MTV, when they actually played videos, will remember just what a big deal it was when videos were released. You’ll remember the big ones. The ones that changed the way other videos were done.
You had the big movie type videos – think Michael Jackson “Thriller”.
And you had the videos that were a first of it’s kind.
When A-ha released the video for “Take On Me” it was a BIG DEAL. The video used a pencil-sketch animation / live-action combination called rotoscoping, in which the live-action footage is traced over frame by frame to give the characters realistic movements. Approximately 3,000 frames were rotoscoped. It took 16 weeks to complete.
It won six awards at the 1986 MTV Video Music Awards – including Best New Artist in a Video, Best Concept Video, Most Experimental Video, Best Direction, Best Special Effects and Viewer’s Choice AND was nominated for two others. Pretty impressive at the time, and still. Probably why so many people are still watching.
The video is so close to a BILLION VIEWS and in anticipation, the band is holding a contest.
The contest is NOT for the one-billionth viewer, but to pick the date and time of the one-billionth view.
A-ha will fly the winner and a guest to the band’s home country of Norway to meet them and see them perform on February 7th.

There are just over 905 million views of the video at the time of posting.
