Every Friday the Fox teams up with the Canadian Mental Health Association Lambton Kent for Feel Good Friday!  Sharing things you can do to take care of yourself, focus on your mental health and help you feel GOOD!

Today it’s about the power of EXERCISE!

Don’t roll your eyes.  Don’t make a face.  Don’t stop reading.   This is for your own good (smile) and it’s so much more fun that eating broccoli.  Or brussels sprouts.  (smile)

So often we think of our mind and body as two separate things, BUT, did you know, that our mental health and physical health are interconnected?  It’s true!

For this week’s Feel Good Friday, we are talking about EXERCISE!

You’ve probably heard that exercise is good for your mental wellbeing, but did you know, that exercise releases feel-good chemicals in the brain?

Just 10 minutes of walking can improve your mental alertness, energy and mood!  Whether you are gardening or running a marathon, exercise can significantly improve your mental health and make you feel less stressed, more focused, and help give you a sense of purpose.  That’s HUGE!

There are lots of ways to exercise – take a walk, join a class – The YMCA Jerry McCaw Family Centre will help to kick off to the Community Better Challenge.  June 1st-4th you can TRY the Y for FREE!! The Pool, the Gymnasium, the Turf, the Classes and so much more!  Find out more at www.foxfm.com.

And if you are looking for a fun way to exercise and help support CMHA – join this years Ride Don’t Hide – and ride, walk, run or dance for your own mental health and for the people around you.
