Every week we team up with the Canadian Mental Health Association Lambton Kent for Feel Good Fridays!  It’s all about sharing things that you can do to take care of yourself, focus on your mental health and help you to Feel GOOD!

This week we’re talking about “Mood Walks”.

It’s been a really long winter, and I know that we are feeling more than anxious to get outside again and enjoy warm weather, sunshine on our faces.

So today we are encouraging you to get walking.  Walking and hiking is a fun and low-cost activity and research shows that being in nature has significant positive effects, ranging from physical exercise you get when out on the trail, to emotional, or mental relief that can come from being in nature.

According to a study done by researchers at Stanford University, spending quality time in the great outdoors can reduce stress, calm anxiety, and can lead to a lower risk of depression

In addition to having mental health benefits, being outdoors opens up your senses to your surroundings and improves your sensory perception. Taking in the sights, smells, and feelings of nature has so many health benefits!

What is your favourite trail or park?  Maybe this year you explore what our area has and find a new trail.
