Gallery Move Underway

Gallery Lambton officials are in the process of making the move across the road to the new Judith and Norman Alix Art Gallery at the former Saks building on Lochiel St.

Curator Lisa Daniels says they began moving larger equipment and furniture onto the site last week.

Daniels says artist Adad Hannah has been working on a project with the community for 2 years. She says work to install his piece in the new gallery is ongoing. Daniels says the gala will open on September 22nd, a public grand opening is set for October 5-7th.

Purple Ribbon Campaign Launch

There were 21 alcohol-related collisions in Sarnia Lambton last year, and the Lambton Drug Awareness Action Committee says that’s 21 too many. Spokesman Terry Easterby says the group will launch their annual Purple Ribbon Campaign this morning at the East-Exmouth Street intersection. There was one alcohol-related fatality last year in Sarnia Lambton. The campaign wraps up June 2nd

Bailey Expresses Suicide Concern

Sarnia-Lambton MPP Bob Bailey is again pushing for implementation of a comprehensive provincial suicide prevention strategy. Bailey rose in the Ontario Legislature this afternoon expressing concern about the latest teen suicides in this area.

Bailey is circulating a petition calling on the Health Minister to immediately implement the many remaining recommendations and create an umbrella agency to spearhead a provincial strategy.
