    The Sting, who have won 3 of their last 4 games, are coming off a win over the CHL’s top ranked team London on Monday. While the Attack just had a 6-game win streak end, with a 4-2 loss in Saginaw back on Sunday.

Michael Sgarbossa of the Sudbury Wolves is the OHL Player of the Week for the week ending February 19 after scoring eight points in three games with four goals and four assists.

       Sarnia’s Heath McCormack is to be honoured by the Sarnia Golf & Curling Club this evening.

          McCormack, born in Michigan, will be represening Team USA at the World Curling Championship in Switzerland next month (March), after taking the U-S title with a 5-4 win over a Minnesota-based rink in Pennsylvania Saturday.

The ceremony at Sarnia Golf & Curling starts TONIGHT at 8:30pm.

Saginaw 6 Sarnia 2 – Brandon Saad had 2 goals and an assist and Josh Shalla added a goal and 3 assists for the Spirit.

Nail Yakupov and Connor Murphy each had goals for the Sting.

The Sting were without a number of key players including Adrian Robertson, Craig Duinick and Alex Basso who injured his hand in Guelph.

Craig Hottot left the game with an “upper body” injury it’s not known if he’ll play Monday afternoon against London.

Lansing Michigan born Sarnia-resident Heath McCormick has advanced to this afternoon’s (3pm Sat) U-S National Curling Final in Aston Pennsylvania.

He’ll take on Minnesota’s Pete Fenson. 

The tournament winner will represent the U-S in the World Curling Championship.
