Well This Takes Me Back

Platinum Blonde is coming to the Imperial Theatre January 26, 2019 and my fourteen year old self is doing cartwheels.

Seriously.

Since I heard the news I’ve been listening to Platinum Blonde Greatest Hits on repeat.  Sorry George and everybody working close to me as I may or may not have started singing a few of those at the top of my lungs.  It may have distracted me a little bit.

Platinum Blonde takes me back to the 80’s. To grade seven and eight. High school.  To days when we couldn’t wait for the next album release.  When we sat on the bedroom floor, album cover in hand, liner notes, reading every word of every song.  Checking out every picture, every piece of artwork.  One song blending into the next. Trying to imagine the story behind it.  Feeling a little bit closer to the artist. The fade of one song into the next. Flipping the album over and experiencing a whole new side.

We filled our bedroom walls with posters of our favourite bands or actors.  Duran Duran, Rick Springfield, Leif Garret and Platinum Blonde posters filled my room.  Oh the giggles over the boys in the band.

I will be 47 next week, but to get the chance to get up close and see this band up on stage right here in Sarnia will take me right back to those days.  The days of crimped hair, and plaid pants. Suspenders. High school dances.  Starstruck.

Tickets for Platinum Blonde go on sale Friday October 5th at 9am ONLINE and 11am OVER THE PHONE at the Imperial Theatre.

I hope to see you there!
