“The holiday season is supposed to be the most festive and fun time of the year but sometimes it can quickly become a stressful and emotional time…This is especially true for those of us who struggle with mental illness—be it depression, anxiety, addiction or any other challenges.”

Kesha explains that it’s not only exhausting to spend all of your time trying to please everyone else—it’s also impossible.

“It’s not your responsibility to try to make the whole world happy. Especially since sometimes it’s not that easy to make yourself happy, either,”

She also detailed a few tangible steps you can take if you’re feeling overwhelmed this holiday season—like taking a walk in nature, talking to a friend you trust or a therapist, or giving yourself permission to opt out of a holiday gathering in favor of some personal time.
