So This Happened
Have you been to a “Paint Party” yet? If not, you should. If you have, then you already know just how much fun they are!
I went to my first one last night. It was also a fundraiser for The United Way. I believe they raised just under $500 dollars last night – so woo hoo! Anytime you can have fun, and learn a new skill AND help a charity that does so many incredible things in this community – it’s a WIN!
Let me be clear, there was two thoughts in my head –
1 – I’m going to absolutely SUCK at this, I have no idea how to do it, and it’s going to stress me out.
2 – I am going to rock this, I’m so excited to try new things, and it’s going to be amazing.
Having never done it, I had no idea what to expect. So naturally I expected I would terrible at it. Ha!
You walk in, and everything is set up ready for you to paint. There were 20 of us ladies last night. We were painting THIS —
Cat Cabajar of The Painted Cat was the instructor/ party host. She was awesome and fun. From how to use the paint brushes, clean them, and dip them in paint – to how to use the brush for different strokes on the canvas. A white canvas turns into a bit of blue, blended with a little white, and then some yellow. Gradually blending the colours. That was the easy part. Making the dandelion stems were the most challenging.
But to be honest, I was so surprised by how relaxing it was. For not having a clue what I was doing, not ever having painted before – this was incredibly fun. The energy in the room was great. Lots of laughter and “abort the mission” “that’s not how it’s supposed to look”. It was great. No painting was the same. In a room of 20 people, not one was the same.
It challenged me, it pushed me in ways I never imagined. If you’re going to love life, you should really just go for it, right? Just give it your all. This was one of those memorable moments for sure.
