What Scares You?

I took my kids to the beach last week and my oldest daughter, who has obviously watched too many movies and listened to too many scary stories at sleepovers, was hesitant to go in the water for fear of man eating sharks.  In Lake Huron.

When I tried to explain there are no sharks to be found in Lake Huron her brain tried to reason every possible way that there COULD BE sharks, just in case and was already ready to run.

Of all the things she has to inherit from her mother, it’s a sense of impending doom wherever possible.  Oh, and brown eyes. (smile).

And she hasn’t even seen the movie Jaws. Imagine her fear then.  She’d probably find that as an excuse to avoid bathing.  She’s clever like that.  Ha.

I saw THIS today and it scared me and intrigued me at the same time.  There is a theatre company planning to celebrate the 40th Anniversary of the movie JAWS by inviting people to watch it, in the water, in an inner tube.  Can you imagine the mind games there?  Wow.

It’s not the first time they’ve done this.  They did it once in 2002 but have decided it went over so well, and was so popular last time they would do it again.  In a different location this time, at Texas Ski Ranch for two dates – the next one July 25th. The theatre company says at least ten sharks will be in the water and guests will need to sign a waiver to attend. No not real sharks, but my mind is thinking divers under the water waiting for the right moment to grab your leg in the inner tube.  Simply terrifying and brilliant and fun all at the same time.

Is this something you would do?  I honestly don’t know if I could.  My mind would be so over-worked before the movie even started I don’t think I could.  But great idea guys.  George Hayes said this morning, “I wonder how many other movies you could do that with?”  Makes you think.   We could celebrate Charlie and the Chocolate Factory somewhere surrounded by chocolate……
