I Want To Say Something… But

This story made headlines this week and I pretty much avoided talking about it.  Until now.

Ashley Madison is a website set up to encourage having an affair.  “Life is short. Have an affair”.  This is the world we live in.  Marriage can be hard enough without someone making money on people’s weakness.  I’m not a perfect person, but this kind of stuff drives me nuts. Am I alone in that?  A website designed to help you cheat on your spouse.  Is marriage really that meaningless?  Over 37 million people around the world are members.

On Monday, hackers managed to steal confidential customer information, posted some of it online and threatened to publish ALL it unless the company is shut down.

So how do you feel about that?  Two sides to the story here. Avid Life Media, which owns the Toronto-based site called the attack an “act of cyberterrorism” and vowed to hold those behind the hack responsible for their actions.  Read the full story HERE.

Honestly, I get so emotional even thinking about this story.  New today — the numbers show Ottawa has the highest number of users on the site.  1 in 5 people in Ottawa use Ashley Madison.  Wow.  Doesn’t that just make you shake your head?  Don’t get married.  Don’t stay married.  I don’t know the right words here. And this is just one website.

Good for the hackers?  Or it’s still hacking and it’s still wrong?  Thoughts?
