It’s been 30 years since Duran Duran went to the top of the Billboard charts with this classic June 23rd, 1984.

Anybody who knows me, knows that I have been obsessed with the band since I was really young.  Posters on the wall, the albums, the pictures — yup obsessed.  So anytime I can find a reason to talk about them, share their music — I will.

The single that was released, was different than what was on the album “Seven and the Ragged Tiger”.  It was a remix, produced by Nile Rodgers.

Lead singer of Duran Duran – Simon Le Bon told Billboard magazine in 2011 “(It) kicked ‘The Reflex’ into the stratosphere…,”  “It was the first time that people (had) really heard things like that ‘flex-flex-flex-flex-flex,'” Le Bon continued, “you know, that kind of sampling and the way he did it. He did a magnificent job of it. I remember getting it back and hearing it for the first time and it just blew my barn doors off.”

Duran Duran has had 21 hits on the Billboard Hot 100, and as of 2013 they rank as the fifth most-successful British group in Hot 100 history (following the Beatles, the Rolling Stones, Paul McCartney/Wings and Bee Gees).
