Notice Anything Different?

Is it the hair?  Well, I did get it cut, but that’s not it.

Drop a few pounds?  Well, yes I did.  Thanks for noticing.  But it’s not anything I could control. It’s because I couldn’t eat my favourite foods, or much of anything actually.

I spent the last week at home, recovering after having my gallbladder removed.  Why do I share this piece of information?  I don’t know. First let me say, I had no idea how many people are living without a gallbladder right now.  Until you have issues it just doesn’t pop up in everyday conversation.

What started in December as a very scary experience (my first gallbladder attack).  I had no idea what was happening to me.  Sudden sharp pains across my back, tightening across my chest and a pain right in the middle of my chest.  Gone in just under 30 minutes making you wonder if it even happened.  Tests were done in January, confirming I indeed had gallstones and the recommendation I should have it removed.  A consultation was booked for mid- April.

February the pains became more frequent, to the point of every other day another attack.  So Friday night, the 6th of March, I begged for help from the Emergency Room.  They kept me, ran tests — (a cat scan was incredibly terrifying to me).  By Saturday night I was in the Operating Room. Looking out for McDreamy, because it very much felt like I was lost in an episode of Grey’s Anatomy. (smile).  Those guys in the OR seem to have a lot of fun working together.

Every single nurse and doctor at Bluewater Health were so incredibly kind to me, taking such good care of me every moment I was there.  Thank you so much for your care and kindness.

I’m not good with pain AT ALL.  Seriously, I remember waking up crying after the operation and I think it was more emotional than actually physical pain.

I’m still not 100%. Still not eating what I used to eat, but that could be a good thing since I’m already down 6 pounds in a week.  (smile).  No heavy lifting which gets me out of laundry duty and groceries (smile).

Good to be back though, even if it is just for a couple of days.
